Drop In Junk Mail Over Last 4 Months

Good news has emerged for computer users with e-mail accounts as it was revealed this week that the volume of spam has fallen in recent months. The drop in junk e-mail was quite steady between August and December before a dramatic decline was seen over the Christmas period.
One security firm noted that there were about 200 billion spam messages being sent each day in August last year. However, this had fallen quite substantially to around 50 billion by December, yet nobody really knows why.

No Wake up Call for iPhone Users

Getting up early on New Year’s Day is not something many revellers from the night before would relish, but some people got an unwanted lie in due to a glitch with their alarm. The problem occurred with Apple’s iPhone on the first two days of the year.

Three Times The Number Of Stars In The Universe

Scientists and astronomers have discovered that there are many more stars than previously thought.  These so-called stealth stars are dwarf stars, hidden within tremendously large galaxies.  Our galaxy, the Milky Way, contains hundreds of billions of different kinds of stars.  Although our galaxy is a spiral one, Elliptical galaxies hold the previously undiscovered or supposed red dwarfs.

Galaxies in general are like islands in space.  The elliptical ones are the commonest.  Our universe is thought to contain around 100 sextillion stars, which is three times former estimates.  This has far-reaching …

Palm Smart Phones Moving Slower Than Competitors

The head of Palm, a large manufacturer of smart-phones, blames his company’s failure to turn around (and subsequent take over by HP) on the fact that the competitors in the market just moved more swiftly. His name is Jon Rubinstein, and while speaking recently at a technology conference, he admitted that, though his company had been a pioneer in their technology, they had fallen behind in the past several years. The company had pinned its hopes for a turnaround largely on the 2009 Pixi and Pre smart-phones, along with their …

Vatican City Turns Green With An Eco Friendly Popemobile

Vatican City is looking for a good used solar-powered and electric Popemobile, for his Holiness to use.  Of course, a new one would be nice, too.  Pope Benedict wants us all to think about sustainable energy and the environment.  So far he’s had no luck in his quest for a greener way of getting from one place to another.
Cardinal Lajolo, who’s in charge of keeping the city state going, says that the pope would love an electric Popemobile over a gas-powered one.  He does want to make the Vatican into …
