Marvin Miller Turned Down Again for Baseball’s Hall of Fame

Pat Gillick, a former general manager in major league baseball, has been elected to the hall of fame. Over the span of his twenty-seven year career, Gillick managed to put together three world series championship teams. Marvin Miller and George Steinbrenner, two far more controversial figures in the sport, were not elected. The hall’s sixteen man veterans committee awarded Gillick thirteen votes. Miller, on the other hand, who had revolutionized baseball by gaining players multi-million dollar contracts and free agency, received only eleven votes. Twelve would have gotten him into …

McDaniels Fired by Broncos

Coach Josh McDaniels has been fired by the Denver Broncos after two years of service. McDaniels’ tenure was marred by several personnel blunders, the teams worst record in forty years, and the co-called “spy gate” video scandal. The Broncos did not immediately announce who the replacement coach would be. When the players recently left the team’s headquarters after a conditioning run, they still did not know that the termination was imminent. McDaniels had two years, and seven million dollars, still remaining on his contract.

20% Of Athletes Ill At The Commonwealth Games

Illness was always going to be a major concern for the organisers of the 2010 Commonwealth games in Delhi, but it would perhaps be fair to say that the various illnesses that are being suffered by many of the athletes taking part has only gone to substantiate the initial worries.
